The Canestrino di Lucca is known for its dryness, making it perfect for creating rich and flavorful sauces. Although, my tomatoes were still juicy enough to enjoy for fresh eating. This was one of my favorite cultivars trialed this season because of its flavor and unique lobbed shape.

Massively present in Tuscany, this variety owes its name to the shape of its fruits (italian for "little basket"). The pulp is dense, watery and poor in seeds while their skin is rather thin.
